Primary Research

Insights from a Comprehensive Survey

As the lead researcher, I managed the distribution and analysis of 517 e-questionnaires, focusing on consumer behavior and recycling attitudes in courier packaging, thereby providing vital insights into sustainable packaging practices.

What materials are typically included in the packaging of the express deliveries you receive?

Survey shows express deliveries commonly use cardboard boxes (54.55%), plastic bags (46.47%), foam boxes (39.87%), woven bags (31.41%), and bubble wrap (28.90%), highlighting diverse packaging materials.

How do you usually dispose of the packaging materials from express deliveries?

Survey indicates 60.41% sell express packaging to recyclers, 47.21% discard or sort as waste, 26.30% reuse, 23.14% give to delivery for recycling, and 22.30% sort before disposal, showing varied environmental practices.

What are some sustainable packaging methods used in express delivery?

Survey shows high awareness in reusing cardboard boxes (57.90%) and reducing tape (51.30%) for sustainable express delivery, followed by using original packaging (44.33%), electronic waybills (29.18%), and recyclable materials (28.81%).

What sustainable packaging actions should businesses and delivery companies implement?

Survey highlights preferences for recycling rewards (54.74%), residential recycling points (44.89%), less secondary packaging (35.50%), and simpler methods like electronic waybills (29.09%) for greener delivery.

Research Insights

Bridging the Recycling Gap with Users

To facilitate quick understanding of the project's essentials, I synthesized both quantitative and qualitative data into a clear, accessible format. My creation of the Affinity Diagram effectively distilled this data, capturing the key insights from our research in a concise, easily digestible manner.

Design Concept

Recycling Machine: Enhancing Sustainable Practices.

In my role, I took charge of designing the recycling machine concept and liaised with factories for its customization. Our research revealed a lack of motivation among users to recycle delivery packages and a preference for a fixed recycling location. Addressing these insights, I developed the recycling machine as a practical solution.

User Flows

Smart Device Integration User Flow Design

Smart Device is the Key touch point for user. I crafted user flows for our smart device-enhanced app, focusing on features like package notifications and tracking. A key contribution was the Re-Box recycling program flow, detailing user steps from unlocking the station via app to earning rewards for recycling. This design streamlines user experience and encourages sustainable practices.
